Sign Petition to Keep Money Out of PA Politics

From Conservation Voters of PA (http://www.conservationpa.org):

This week, our friends at Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania released an updated edition of their Marcellus Money report, showing how campaign contributions from oil and gas drillers undermine the environment, health, and democracy of Pennsylvania.

Since 2007, oil and gas drillers have given a staggering $11.3 million to candidates, candidate committees, and political parties in Pennsylvania.

Due in large part to these contributions, drillers wield massive power in Harrisburg and have too much influence over Pennsylvania’s elected officials. Since gas lobbying began in earnest, state funding for the Department of Environmental Protection has been cut in half. And despite widespread, bipartisan popular support and consistent calls from Governor Wolf and legislators of both parties, Speaker of the House Mike Turzai continues to prevent the House of Representatives from voting to tax gas drillers like every other gas-producing state is already doing.

Fracking lobbyists and executives shouldn’t be able to make unlimited contributions to candidates and campaigns. Add your name at https://www.greenactions.org/money-out-of-politics.

Just last year, Speaker Mike Turzai pushed two amendments to make it harder for our state’s Department of Environmental Protection to oversee the fracking industry and protect public health and safety. That same month, gas lobbyists and executives wrote him a $10,000 check.

This has to stop: Tell the Legislature to keep money out of politics by signing this petition.

Securing our democracy, in part by limiting the influence of money in our politics, is one the main principles of our We The People – Pennsylvania campaign.
