Sign Petition to Permanently Ban Fracking in Delaware River Watershed

From Conservation Voters of PA (http://www.conservationpa.org):

With leaders in Washington rolling back critical protections to our environment, we can’t be sure that the Delaware River is protected from fracking until we ban it once and for all.

Sign the petition and tell the commission to permanently ban fracking in the Delaware River watershed at http://www.greenactions.org/sign-the-petition-ban-fracking-in-the-delaware-river-basin.

Gas drillers are blocked from fracking in the Delaware River Basin, but with climate change deniers in the White House, whether that policy continues is anyone’s guess. Friends of corporate polluters in Washington have already green lit the Keystone XL and North Dakota Access pipelines, and plan on massively expanding natural gas drilling nationwide.

We can’t afford the environmental destruction that fracking will bring to the Delaware River Basin. Because of cleanup efforts and investments, areas that were once highly polluted are now safe for swimming and fishing, and bald eagles are coming back. Fracking could use up millions of gallons of clean water, release pollution into the surface and groundwater, and tear up the forests that naturally filter our waterways.

Help protect the Delaware River from dangerous pollution—add your name to our petition to tell the Delaware River Basin Commission to ban fracking in the watershed.

So far, the Delaware River Basin Commission (made up of the governors of Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, and one federal representative) has kept fracking out of the Basin. But if super polluters get their way, we could see the area opened up to drilling—putting corporations’ profits ahead of clean drinking water for more than 15 million people.

We’ve got to keep big polluters out of the Delaware River Basin.

Sign the petition to tell the Delaware River Basin Commission to protect the largest drinking water source in the Northeast by permanently banning fracking in the Basin.
