Show Up for Commutation in Pennsylvania

From the Coalition to Abolish Death By Incarceration (https://decarceratepa.info/CADBI):

Many of you know that the PA Board of Pardons (BOP) is holding commutation hearings in September. For people serving Death By Incarceration (aka Life Without Parole) in PA, commutation is the only possible avenue to freedom.*

We are calling on you to invest in our communities and show up for commutation in TWO ways:

Since many of us who support commutation will not be able to attend the hearing in person, we are asking you to send us a photo by Monday, August 17 to show your support.

Join us for a Press Conference at the Capitol in Harrisburg on August 27 from 12-1pm. Can’t make it in person? You can support from home!

Check out the facebook event and share with friends!

*More on the commutation process: In PA, people who apply to have their sentences commuted (which means coming home to their families and communities, often after decades of incarceration) have to go through an arduous screening process, the final step of which is to go in front of the Board of Pardons for a hearing. The final hearing requires a unanimous vote from all five members of the Board of Pardons. For the over 5,000 people serving Death By Incarceration sentences in PA, commutation is the only possible pathway home to their loved ones.
