Give a Sermon on the Importance of Voting

From Interfaith Power and Light (http://interfaithpowerandlight.org):

As a faith leader, you know how important it is to use your prophetic voice in calling the faithful to live by their deepest-held values. What is our vision for the world when centered in values of love, compassion, justice, courage, and hope?

We are living in a Kairos moment–a moment ripe with opportunity, where new paths can be found. We have an opportunity to open our eyes and see what has not been working, and to prepare for the future in ways that don’t entail going back to existing inequalities.

In this regard, the 2020 election could not be more important. This is a moment for fundamental change and renewed vision for our nation and our world, based in our spiritual values.

We need to make sure that people of faith are voting, and that starts with your leadership within your congregation or faith community.

That’s why IPL is sharing nonpartisan resources for sermons on the importance of voting for climate justice. Sign up here to give a sermon on the importance of voting.

Rev. Margaret Trezevant, of San Rafael, California, helped pull together sermon resources about voting and climate justice for IPL’s Faith Climate Justice Voter Campaign. Sign up to give a sermon this fall to view them.

We need leaders who share our values of loving our neighbors and caring for Creation. Please encourage the members of your faith community to vote this November.
