Send a Letter to Editor to Say “I’m a Health Care Voter”

From Moms Rising (https://www.momsrising.org/):

It’s no surprise that in poll after poll this election season, health care is consistently at the top of the list of voters’ concerns. [1]

We all watched last year as the Republican-led Congress took one whack at health care after another, trying (and failing) to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA). And after that effort failed, we witnessed dozens of efforts to sabotage health care from the Administration, including an executive order issued just this week designed to undermine our consumer protections on pre-existing conditions. [2]

It’s a critical time to make our voices heard in our local newspapers so that voters understand the importance of supporting candidates who will protect our health care—and there’s no time to lose.

Just this week, the Administration has taken even more steps to undermine access to quality, affordable health care coverage. Specifically, in a two-fold effort to sabotage the ACA and roll back improvements in our health care coverage, the Administration just issued a new federal policy on 1332 waivers and an executive order to expand Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs). [3] Both of these actions will serve to gut the protections that ensure families have access to quality, affordable health care coverage.

Join in writing a letter to the editor about why you plan to be a #HealthCareVoter during this midterm election by voting for candidates who support health care. When you take action, we’ll also send you more tools you can use to help spread the word about why it’s important to be a #HealthCareVoter!

What’s a Health Care Voter? A Health Care Voter is someone who votes for candidates who stand for protecting and expanding health care. And health care needs a lot of protection right now because the Trump administration’s attacks on our nation’s health care will continue to erode coverage and drive up costs for families across the country. In addition, Republicans have already vowed to try to repeal the ACA should they do well this election cycle, undoing all the good this law has done for tens of millions of people across the country. [4] Health Care Voters will hold our leaders accountable for their actions on health care and vote for candidates who will protect the gains we’ve made in coverage and work to make sure that everyone has access to quality, affordable health care coverage.

The ACA added critical protections for consumers, expanded access to care, and began to slow the skyrocketing costs of health care coverage. But since its passage, moms, dads, brothers, sisters, doctors, nurses, and so many more have had to fight time and time again to protect this law. It is critically important this election season to make our voices heard loud and clear that we will vote to protect our health care by supporting candidates who stand for our health.

Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper to make your voice heard! And after you take action, we’ll send you more tools you can use to share why you’re a #HealthCareVoter!
