Act Now to Keep Sunday Hunting-Free in Pennsylvania

From the Sierra Club (https://www.sierraclub.org/):

For many Pennsylvanians, Sunday is the only day during deer hunting season they feel comfortable recreating in the woods. Now, the legislature and the NRA are trying to pass SB 147 which would allow Sunday hunting on three additional days during deer season.

Go to https://act.sierraclub.org/actions/Pennsylvania?actionId=AR0211851 to say NO to HB 147 and keep Sunday free from hunting.

If passed, SB 147 would allow one day of Sunday hunting during deer rifle season, deer archery season, and one Sunday to be determined.

Many families specifically plan their outdoor trips for Sunday to avoid conflicts with hunters and to enjoy the outdoors with peace of mind but this bill means more hunters in the woods and a greater chance for conflict or even accidents.

Hikers and other groups participating in non-hunting outdoor recreation play an important role in Pennsylvania’s economy and have come to rely on Sundays as a day without hunters in the woods, with some even traveling from out of state for just that reason.

With that protection removed, their participation may decline — at great cost to Pennsylvania.

Tell your legislator to vote NO on SB 147.

Both hunters and hikers share a deep appreciation for Penn’s Woods and have a right to pursue their passion.

By continuing the ban on Sunday hunting, hunters are still free to hunt six days of the week as they have for over 144 years and everyone else can continue to have one day a week where they can enjoy the woods free from hunting pressure.

Let’s keep the ban on Sunday hunting.
