Say NO to Proposed Tax Plans That Hurt Low and Moderate Income Persons

From the Coalition on Human Needs (http://www.chn.org):

Please email and/or call your Representative and Senators today to say the proposed tax plans in the House and Senate will hurt low and moderate income persons and families.

Go to http://org.salsalabs.com/o/125/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=22523 to email!

Make a call as well! Dial toll-free:  877-795-7862 (thanks to Americans for Tax Fairness and the Communications Workers of America for making the toll-free numbers available). Alternatively, call directly—find contact information:

This week (probably November 16), the full House is scheduled to take up a tax cut plan that will blow a hole in the deficit and massively shift resources away from meeting the needs of low/moderate income people and to tax breaks for high-income people and wealthy corporations.  They don’t have the votes yet, so your email and calls are really important.

This really matters:  please contact your Representative and Senators and tell them NO – not one penny in tax giveaways for the rich that will hit low- and moderate-income people with a one/two punch:

  • Some families will see their taxes go up, not down:  For example, an analysis using a tax model from the conservative American Enterprise Institute found that about 40 percent of families with children under 18 will see their taxes RISE in 2027 if the House plan is enacted.
  • People who need services such as Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, education at all levels, housing, meals on wheels, child care, etc. will be hit with cuts – some in 2018, and many more in the years to come.  The House leadership is telling its caucus members who want to cut services that they can fast-track them in the FY2019 budget.  And the big deficit from the tax cuts will strengthen their hand.

Thank you for all that you do.
