Tell PA Officials: Rural Communities Need Access to Healthcare

From the Pennsylvania Health Access Network (http://www.pahealthaccess.org):

Today a woman in Sunbury urgently needs her prescriptions updated but is on a wait list to see a psychiatrist.

Today a woman in New Bloomfield can’t afford to have her car repaired to get to her medical appointments.

Today a man with an intellectual disability in Pottsville can’t find a dentist willing to treat him and will have to wait until his teeth are so bad that he will have to go to the emergency room.

Today I’m writing to ask you to add your voice as we ask PA officials to improve access to urgently needed healthcare to rural communities.

We are calling on PA Officials to:

  • Make the PA Healthcare System Easier to Understand and Use
  • Ensure Rural PA Has Enough Available Doctors, Dentists, Behavioral and Mental Health, and Other Healthcare Providers
  • Ensure Doctors, Dentists, and Other Healthcare Providers Have the Time and Competency Training They Need to Meet their Patients’ Needs
  • Ensure Access to the Medical Transportation Benefits

This petition is part of the Rural Healthcare Access Project, an initiative funded by the PA Developmental Disabilities Council to improve healthcare access for people with disabilities in rural PA.
