From the National Alliance to End Homelessness (http://www.endhomelessness.org):
Congress is working with President Biden to put together another emergency spending bill to address the widening pandemic and deep recession. This proposal must include critical resources for affordable housing and homeless assistance:
- $6.1 billion for Emergency Solutions Grants
- $30 billion for emergency rental and utility assistance
- $28 billion for 500,000 rental vouchers
- $44 billion for the National Housing Trust Fund
Already this year, we have made important victories with FEMA’s expansion of shelter spending and CDC’s extension of the eviction moratorium.

This progress follows billions in new spending for homelessness and emergency rental assistance last year. But Congress is still not doing enough in the face of an unprecedented crisis. We need this next COVID bill to protect people who are homeless now and prevent millions more from joining them.
Congress must hear from us about the importance of including housing and homeless assistance in the pending legislation. Without these resources, more people will die from COVID on the streets and in shelters. More renters who are already on the brink of homelessness will lose their homes. We can avoid many of these hardships, but only if Washington does the right thing.
Please take a moment to send a personalized message to Congress. Tell your elected representatives to include homelessness and housing in the next COVID emergency bill. They need to know how important this is to people like you in their states and districts.
Decisions are happening now in Washington.
