Resources for Acting and Speaking Out Against Racism

From Faith in Public Life (http://www.faithinpubliclife.org):

Our communities are in pain. How can white and non-black people of color faithfully show up to walk with our black neighbors right now? All of us are called to be allies and reject anti-blackness in our communities and policies.

Check out this video with Minister Blyth Barnow, our Ohio Harm Reduction Manager, and Michael Vazquez, Religion and Faith Director of Human Rights Campaign, to hear some critical ways faith leaders can show up this weekend, in your home, congregation, and the streets. Showing up looks different for everyone right now and it is critical that everyone follows health guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by practicing social distancing to not touch others, wearing masks and sanitizing hands.

Anti-racism is a life-long journey and we must commit to continue learning, acting and speaking out against racism beyond these moments. We’ve compiled a guide with resources from Black-led organizations and leaders for you to engage with this weekend and beyond. The guide includes information on where to donate right now, Black-led organizations to follow, what your rights are while protesting, more ways to take action, and a lot of reading suggestions.

As allies in defense of black lives, we must de-center ourselves and prioritize the leadership of black leaders, both in our congregations and on the streets. We need all people to speak out at this time, but we can’t make this about us.

We hope you find these resources helpful for showing up in solidarity with your community this weekend and beyond.
