Tell Congress: Reject Funding for Family Detention & Deportations

From Faith in Public Life (http://www.faithinpubliclife.org):

This spring, a Honduran couple with their 3-year-old son were passing through the Guatemala-Mexico border, just hours after fleeing death threats. Days later, the administration implemented the zero tolerance policy and within just a few months, almost 3,000 children were ripped from the arms of their parents. Almost six months later, 200 children remain separated from their parents and as a ‘solution’ to this failure, Congress is scheming how to hold families together in detention, indefinitely. As people of faith, we have an opportunity to speak for justice.

We believe that families belong together, but that they also belong in communities. Call Congress today to tell them to stop detaining families in jails and demand that all separated families be reunited – NOW.

Call (866) 940-2439 to reach your members of Congress (Remember to call three times to speak to your representative and two senators). NOTE: You can also call directly—find contact information:

You can say something like this:

“Hello, my name is ______. I am a constituent from CITY/TOWN, and [as a person of faith], I am outraged that immigrant children are still separated from their families and that unprecedented numbers of children are currently being held in immigration detention. I believe that children belong in communities with their parents, not cages. I urge my member of Congress to reject funding for family detention and deportations. Congress should instead work to reunite all families immediately and invest in community-based alternatives to detention. Thank you.”

Please call today for this Honduran family and thousands of others like them who are seeking safety and a better life for their children. This is a national push– faith communities across the country will be calling Congress today – call now at (866) 940-2439.
