Here are some tips for successful phone calls:

Key points to convey:

  • Tell the legislator who you are and that you are a constituent (Provide name, address, zip code)
  • Tell the legislator to support legislation that raises the minimum wage to $15/hr
  • (Optional) Provide a brief personal story in 1 to 2 sentences on why this issue is important to you.

Here is a Sample Call Script:

Hello, this is __________. I’m a resident of [local municipality and/or district].  I’m calling to ask [State Legislator] to support legislation that raises the state minimum wage to $15/hr.

Raising the minimum wage to $15 is about dignity, respect, and fairness. Thank you for taking my call! 

[IF LEAVING A VOICEMAIL: please leave your full street address and zip code to ensure your call is tallied as a constituent] If calling over the weekend you are more likely to get their voicemail.
