Act to Protect People in Prison from COVID-19

From Families Against Mandatory Minimums (http://famm.org/):

The conditions in our nation’s prisons and jails have never been worse. Tell your leaders they need to help now: https://secure.everyaction.com/4FdoQDEg2EuDXAOif8JEZg2

People in prison are at their breaking point. They are trapped in cells all day, every day, with no chance to call home or to even take a shower. Meanwhile, the virus spreads without mercy.

More than 340,000 people in prison have tested positive for Covid-19, and nearly 2,000 have died from the disease. Survivors are lucky to be alive, but are barely getting by in unbearable conditions.

We don’t just have a virus spreading in our prisons, we have a mental health crisis—and every family member we talk to is worried to death about both.

There are lots of things policymakers can do to help. They can safely reduce the prison population, make sure the vaccine gets to people inside as soon as possible, and ensure that people get a chance to talk to their loved ones. Doing nothing is no longer an option.

Contact your state and federal lawmakers today, and tell them they need to fix this—now.

Please allow prisoners to make phone calls to family..that is an easy one despite negative publicity you may fear. Then address the other issues.
