Sign Petition to Governor and Legislative Leaders to Protect Our Shared Environment

From PennFuture (http://www.pennfuture.org):

Pennsylvanians face serious environmental threats that impact our lives and health – from more severe heat waves and storms, industrial pollution, and contaminated water – and we don’t face these equitably.

We also have all new state leaders who took the oath of office earlier this year. While they establish their priorities, now is a critical moment when we can truly make an impact.

Remind our new state elected leaders that residents across the Commonwealth support protecting our shared environment and addressing environmental injustices. Sign our petition today at https://www.greenactions.org/2023-healthy-environment-pa!

We teamed up with grassroots organizations across the Commonwealth to identify the environmental issues harming our residents. We found that:

  • Heat waves are getting worse and hurt the elderly, low-income people, and Black and brown residents the hardest
  • Air pollution from big polluters kills more people prematurely in Pennsylvania than any state in the nation per capita
  • One-third of our waters are too polluted for fishing or swimming
  • Aging homes throughout the state contain damaging lead, asbestos, and other environmental toxins that damage the health of the most vulnerable residents who can’t afford costly rehabs.

These are just a handful of environmental issues that cause serious health impacts to communities across Pennsylvania. Without concerted action, these issues aren’t going away.

We elected new leaders on the promise that they will prioritize these threats. Now, while they are getting settled into office, we must remind them about the challenges that hardworking Pennsylvanians face every single day. Let’s push them to fight for a healthy environment for everyone.

Sign our petition to Governor Josh Shapiro, Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis, House Majority Leader Mark Rozzi, and Senate President Kim Ward asking for a healthy environment for everyone.
