Tell PA Senators: Keep Approps Bill Free of Harmful Environmental Riders

From PennEnvironment (http://www.pennenvironment.org):

A spending bill just passed the House with many anti-environment policy riders in tow, but it’s not too late to stop the worst of these dangerous provisions in the Senate.

The House Interior-Environment appropriations bill included numerous riders that would compromise our environment and our health — including a repeal of the Clean Water Rule. The Senate is expected to take up their version of the bill this week, so our chance to speak up is now.

Tell our senators to keep the appropriations bill free of riders that threaten our land, water, air and wildlife at https://pennenvironment.webaction.org/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=27842.

The Clean Water Rule helps keep drinking water for 1 in 3 Americans safe, and has the support of more than 1 million public comments and 1,200 scientific studies — it’s too important to lose.1 And that’s not all — other riders in the House bill would:

  • Weaken protections for endangered wildlife.2
  • Limit the federal government’s ability to act on climate change.3
  • Defund the EPA’s efforts to clean up the Chesapeake Bay.4
  • Block standards to reduce pollution emissions from medium and heavy duty trucks.5

It’s not too late to stop dangerous anti-environment riders in their tracks. Contact your senators today.

A clean and healthy environment is the foundation of well-being for all Americans. Policy riders that threaten public health and the land, water and air we all depend on can’t be allowed to pass into law.

We know we can stop these dangerous provisions in the Senate, but only if your senators hear from you. Your senators need to know that you won’t stand for a budget that puts our environment at risk.

Tell your senators today: Keep the federal spending bills free of harmful anti-environment riders.
