Pennsylvania’s Primary is on the Move—April 28 to June 2

Protecting the right to vote assumed a new responsibility in light of COVID-19.

A number of advocacy voices supported a legislative change to move Pennsylvania’s Primary Election from April 28 to June 2.

Gov. Tom Wolf enacted the measure Friday.

It is encouraging that during this time of crisis, the governor, his administration, and members of the General Assembly put aside partisanship to keep Pennsylvanians healthy while ensuring the safety, security, accessibility, and integrity of our election process.
Of course, the devil is in the details.

There are some concerns with the enabling legislation (S.B. 422), namely a provision that allows county election officials to close and consolidate polling places, but advocates have made voices heard on this and other issues, even providing a long list of legislative recommendations to state and local stakeholders.

Stay tuned for further information.
