Report: PA Homeless Children Not Served by McKinney Vento Education or Head Start

From the People’s Emergency Center (http://www.pec-cares.org):

This is part one in the seven-series “Children Cannot Wait” Campaign to increase awareness of young children experiencing homelessness.

PEC summarizes data from the US Department of Education (USDOE) Early Childhood Homelessness State Profiles project for local policy makers, planners, advocates, and others involved in working with young children experiencing homelessness. The report estimated that 29,995 children residing in Pennsylvania were homeless in School Year 2018-2019, or 1 in 28 children.

Key takeaway: 64% of Pennsylvania’s homeless young children are not served by the McKinney Vento education or Head Start/Early Head Start programs.
