Oxfam America has launched the “I Hear You” project in support of refugees (https://www.oxfamamerica.org/press/oxfam-joins-with-margot-robbie-john-cho-gael-garcia-bernal-minnie-driver-and-more-to-launch-i-hear-you-project-in-support-of-refugees/). The series of 14 videos features celebrities telling the word-for-word stories of positive, relatable aspects of refugees’ lives before fleeing conflict, to counter anti-refugee rhetoric and to inspire action.
Creator Julie Anne Robinson – an acclaimed director and producer – and Vanity Fair have partnered with us on the project and launch, which helped us engage more than a dozen celebrities including Margot Robbie, John Cho, Gael Garcia Bernal, Minnie Driver, Olivier Platt, and more. Six of the videos will debut on Vanity Fair’s website.
Julie Anne said “I came up with the idea for this project because I wanted to find a way to communicate the human stories of displaced people. These are people we tend to fear and reject, but I found they are driven by the same things as all of us – love of their children and a desire to work.”
