Tell Your PA Senator Oppose Bill Letting Drillers Off the Hook for Clean Up

From the Evangelical Environmental Network (http://www.creationcare.org):

As children, nearly all of us learned that the one who makes a mess is also the one who should clean it up – that’s common sense. Nevertheless, Pennsylvania’s House Bill 2644 – instead of putting taxpayers first – would reward our Commonwealth’s conventional drilling industry for not being responsible enough to clean up their own messes.

HB 2644 would arbitrarily limit bonding requirements for conventional wells to $2,500 per well with a not-to-exceed blanket bond amount of $100,000, regardless of how many wells an operator owns. Simply put, this bill increases taxpayer burdens by allowing the conventional industry to easily walk away, leaving us with the job of cleaning up another mess.

Now is the time to exercise sound fiscal responsibility through good stewardship by defending our children, stopping the waste of taxpayer money, and ending the fossil fuel industry’s legacy of dumping their costs on others.
