President Biden has announced a new set of asylum bans that will deny most migrants access to protection.
Former President Trump pursued these asylum bans during his time in office, and on the campaign trail, Biden denounced these policies and pledged to restore access to asylum. Yet as president, Biden is now doing the opposite.
If these bans are enacted, they will result in people being sent back to the very dangers they have fled.
Seeking asylum is a human and legal right. And as people of faith called to welcome the sojourner and protect the most vulnerable, we must condemn these plans and urge the administration to restore and adequately resource the asylum system.
With a limited window to persuade the administration to change course, please join us today in taking urgent action.
