Sign Petition: No Rollback of Clean Car Standards

From Interfaith Power and Light (http://interfaithpowerandlight.org):

You’ve probably heard that the administration wants to weaken the clean car standards that are set to nearly double our current fuel economy by 2025. It is imperative that people of faith show that we do not support this rollback, and we are asking you to submit comments in support of the current, strong standards.

Go to http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/o/50836/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=25518 to tell the administration you support the Clean Car Standards.

Our diverse faith traditions call us to love our neighbors and to care for those who are most vulnerable. It is our moral obligation to oppose policies that endanger the health of families and communities, policies such as the careless rollback of fuel efficiency standards that protect children from increasing asthma rates and our elders from pollution-related illnesses that shorten their life spans.

Transportation has become the number one emitting source of greenhouse gas emissions in our country, and pollution from this sector is deeply tied to issues of racism and environmental injustice, as low-income communities and communities of color are more likely to be impacted from their proximity to major transportation hubs, such as interstates and highways.

The current, strong standards are also the most effective policy that we have to address global warming, as greenhouse gas emissions continue to intensify dangerous weather events that are impacting our neighbors here and now: extreme storms, hurricanes, drought, and wildfires that are driving people from their homes and devastating communities.

Please help us amplify this message from the faith community, and protect the clean car standards, clean air, and climate solutions. Click here to let the administration hear from you.
