Tell Congress: No Rollback of Clean Vehicle Standards

From Interfaith Power and Light (http://interfaithpowerandlight.org):

Did you know that the transportation sector, comprising our cars, trucks, buses, and planes, is now the biggest source of global warming pollution in the country?

Millions of Americans who have advocated for cleaner cars – including many of you who wrote to the EPA and attended hearings – won a major victory when the Obama administration’s EPA set a target to nearly double fuel economy by 2025. But now, just as clean cars are building momentum and automakers are bringing dozens of cleaner and electric vehicles to market, Congress has introduced legislation to slam on the brakes.

Go to http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/o/50836/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=24390 and tell Congress: Don’t put clean cars in reverse. Cleaner vehicles don’t just curb emissions, they improve air quality in our communities and save money (and time) at the gas pump.

Please help defend our clean car standards from these egregious attempts to roll them back. It is simply unconscionable for our representatives to bow to industry desires for profit at the expense of our health and our planet. These bills directly flout a public process with input from millions of citizens. Take action now.

Our dependence on oil and gas to fuel our vehicles leads to air pollution that causes thousands of deaths a year, oil drilling that devastates our coastal communities and marine life, and global warming that is undermining our planet’s very life support systems. Let’s make sure Congress hears the faith community’s voice loud and clear: no rollback of clean car standards. Write your members of Congress today: click here to easily send your letter.
