Tell Your Representative—No Private Vouchers Scheme for Military Students

posted in: Education | 0

In the last few weeks, an overwhelming number of Americans United supporters took action to try and stop a voucher scheme in Congress that would drain critical federal funding from public schools that serve military families and funnel it to unaccountable private and religious schools.

But the fight isn’t over.

This private school voucher scheme—authored by lobbyists from the Heritage Foundation and supported by Betsy DeVos—could be headed to the House Floor next week.

Proponents of this scheme want to attach it to the must-pass bill that funds our military, which would make it incredibly difficult to defeat.

Help us fight back—even if you have already taken action—and raise your voice today at https://secure.everyaction.com/5fwmSseMMkevxg_M7I5_Rg2! Tell your Representative that military families deserve fully funded public schools, not harmful voucher schemes.

Almost 30 military groups including the National Military Family Association, the Military Officers Association of America, and associations representing all branches of the armed services oppose this plan, and it’s no surprise.

This bill would not only harm our public schools, which serve the vast majority of kids from military families, but it would also hurt the students who remain in those schools, who are left with fewer resources.

The bottom line: Our service members deserve access to quality public education, and vouchers will not provide it.

Please take a moment to contact your Representative today and him/her them to oppose any bill to create a private school voucher plan for military students.

Thank you for standing with us as we fight for public schools, religious freedom, and U.S. military families.
