From Fair Districts PA (http://www.fairdistrictspa.com):
We just learned that both Federal Court and Supreme Court appeals of the new congressional district map have been denied. The new map will be the one used for the 2018 and 2020 elections.
We are celebrating the new, fairer map, but more determined than ever to ensure a better process for the future and fair district maps for ALL our legislative races.
We are building momentum toward lasting reform in significant ways:
- A Senate State Government Committee Hearing considering Senate Bill 22 along with other redistricting reform bills: Tuesday, March 27, 9 AM. (We’ve learned there’s plenty of room and two overflow rooms -so come if you can! Hearing Room 1, North Office Building)
- Four Redistricting Town Halls with three California Commissioners, March 26-28 (Please come if you can, and please invite your legislators to come. We want them to know it’s possible to be transpartisan: putting common good above partisan allegiance.)
- Reclaiming Our Democracy: Rally to End Gerrymandering in Harrisburg, April 16. We have over 500 registered and are offering subsidized buses – $20 a ride from anywhere in the state – to make clear we intend to be heard. (RSVP here).
- Polling Place Outreach on Primary Day, May 15. Our goal is 600 volunteers at 75 polling places in strategically chosen districts. (Volunteer!)
