Be a Citizen Co-Signer: Medical Supply Transparency and Delivery Act

From Social Security Works (http://www.socialsecurityworks.org/):

Thanks to you, Social Security Works and our allies have helped deliver hundreds of thousands of medical masks to workers in hard-hit areas like Chicago, Detroit, New York City, Puerto Rico and Washington DC.

But protecting health care workers with PPE shouldn’t be up to charity. The administration’s feeble response to the pandemic has states and hospitals competing with one another to obtain critically needed medical masks, gloves, gowns and other PPE.

In the absence of leadership from the White House, it’s up to Congress to immediately pass the Medical Supply Transparency and Delivery Act to create a central, transparent system for procuring and distributing medical supplies during the pandemic.

More than two months into the pandemic, PPE shortages continue to hamper our response to the COVID-19 crisis. Nurses and frontline medical teams are being left to develop make-shift masks and protective gear.

Doctors and nurses are putting themselves in harm’s way to save every life they can during this crisis. We need to have their backs by making sure they have the tools they need to fight this pandemic.

Become a co-signer of the Medical Supply Transparency and Delivery Act and demand our federal government provide hospitals, nursing homes and caregivers with the protective equipment they need to combat this pandemic.

The United States is the richest country in the history of the world. But when it comes to supplying our frontline medical workers with the basic, medical equipment to keep themselves, their patients, and the community safe, we have failed.
