MCC “Kits Are for Caring” and How You Can Help

What would you do if your home and belongings were suddenly swept away in a flood? When the news is filled with stories and images of people in need, how can you respond to their plight?

In a crisis, such as war or disaster, MCC is often invited to help people meet their most basic and immediate needs. One way we respond is through relief kit distributions.

This year, 25,000 relief kits are requested from our partners. That means we need your help! To fulfill this request, and to generate excitement about these kits, we would like to introduce you to MCC’s new church resource, “Kits are for Caring.”

The full resource package includes:

“Kits are for Caring” Resources

Designed to be ready to use, the resource even includes curriculum to guide a group of children toward a celebration of sharing God’s gifts by collecting humanitarian aid for those in need around the world. Whether you use the curriculum in Sunday School classes, during the children’s story or in a Bible camp, there are games, stories and activity sheets that will engage children of all ages. But there are also resources to use with adult groups, including prayer cards and in-depth info sheets.

Our hope is that churches can use the materials in this resource to get children (and people of all ages) excited about collecting relief kits. Maybe you could even consider collecting relief kits this Thanksgiving or Christmas season?

Relief kits are one of the most requested items from MCC. Last year, MCC distributed more than 24,500 relief kits to people in countries such as Jordan, Haiti, Ukraine, Syria and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (also known as North Korea). Providing valuable hygiene supplies to families whose lives have been disrupted, the gift of a relief kit goes a long way to show someone, somewhere, that you care.

As you prayerfully consider this request, please feel free to contact us to see if we can be of service. Thank you for considering joining in MCC’s efforts to share God’s love and compassion for all in the name of Christ by donating relief kits.
