Take Action to Make Sure All Are Counted in the Census

The Trump Administration is planning to add a question to the 2020 Census that will lead to massive undercounts of children and minorities.

Tell the Trump Administration not to undermine the 2020 Census at https://cqrcengage.com/censuscounts2020/app/act-on-a-regulation?0&engagementId=484734.

The Administration is planning to include an untested and unnecessary citizenship question in the 2020 census, despite its own research showing this will result in massive inaccuracies, especially undercounting people of color, children, and immigrants.

Why this matters:  with an inaccurate count, congressional districts will be unfairly drawn and federal funding will not go to the neediest communities. Every part of our society will be impacted, from schooling for our children to the ability of communities and businesses to plan for the future. Take Action Now!

Comments are very important!  By law, the Census Bureau must read all comments and consider them in its next round of rule-making. Further, comments are used by judges ruling on lawsuits. A judge who ruled against the Trump Administration’s approval of Kentucky’s Medicaid work requirements cited public comments on that issue. (See for yourself, ruling, page 37ff.) Your comments here can have a similar positive impact on lawsuits filed against the citizenship question.

And don’t forget to share this important action with others via email and social media!
