Tell Congress to Make a Federal Investment in Our Drinking Water

From Clean Water Action (http://www.cleanwateraction.org/):

We’re making the case for federal investment in our drinking water — and we need you. Send a message to Your Senators and Representatives today. Tell them that we must fully fund the replacement of lead service lines across the country at https://cleanwater.salsalabs.org/invest-in-water-2021/index.html.

Where lead service lines are present, they are the largest source of lead in drinking water. One of the biggest barriers to replacing these pipes is the cost to water system customers. Robust federal investment to fully replace the nation’s remaining lead service lines is needed and appropriate.

There is no safe level of lead. Young children, infants, and fetuses are vulnerable to lead, which can impact their learning and development. Lead exposure in adults is associated with heart disease.

Getting lead pipes out of the ground is critical to reducing lead exposure and improving the health of our communities. Help us make the case — send a message to your members of Congress today.

Congress is also debating other investments. They are discussing funding for programs to tackle the climate crisis, investments in public transit, the transition to a clean energy economy and more. Making these investments will not only make us healthier and more resilient to the impacts from climate change, they’ll also create millions of good paying jobs as we move to a clean energy economy.

Send a message to your Senators and Representative today — tell them to help us get the lead out and invest in the future.
