Know the Names of Too Many Lost—Learn About Doing Your Own Memorial to the Lost

From Heeding God’s Call (http://www.heedinggodscall.org):

That was the headline on a powerful Helen Ubinas column in Sunday’s Philadelphia Inquirer We hope you’ll take a few minutes to read it.

It’s possible, if not likely, Helen got the idea for her column from seeing the current installation of Heeding’s Delaware County Memorial to the Lost tee-shirt display on the front lawn of Swarthmore United Methodist Church.  Or, maybe she read the front page report in Delco Daily Times about that Memorial.

Helen’s call to read and know the names of those lost to gun violence this year in Philadelphia is akin to what we’ve been doing at Heeding since 2013.  Our Memorials are made up of colorful tee-shirts on frames, each with the name, date of death and age at death of local gun murder victims.  We have separate Memorials in Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery, Chester and Bucks Counties, as well as Harrisburg. They are expanding into Allegheny and Lancaster Counties.  Each and every Memorial has an astounding impact on viewers and the faith communities who host them.  We urge you to reach out to us at contactheeding@gmail.com if you would like your faith community to host a Memorial to the Lost.
