Tell Congress: Fund Science, Not New Nuclear Weapons

From the Union of Concerned Scientists (http://www.ucsusa.org):

As Congress is debating a series of economic stimulus packages to address the health and economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic, we must ensure they make fact-based decisions to put money in the hands of those who most need it. At the same time, we need to make sure our federal budget, as a whole, reflects our values and helps our government respond to real threats and help us achieve true security.

If Congress truly wants to ensure the safety of the US public, they should fund public health, science, international cooperation, and diplomacy, not expensive and unnecessary nuclear weapons, programs that will make us less safe.

Add your name to let Congress know that in this time of crisis, we need money for public health, not nuclear weapons!

That is why it’s so disheartening that the budget STILL contains plans to spend more than $1.5 trillion on unnecessary nuclear weapons over the next three decades, which will divert critical funds from essential federal programs and spending priorities.

Please join the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) in urging your members of Congress to reject plans to spend more than $1.5 trillion on nuclear weapons and instead invest in programs that will improve public health and advance true human security.

Add your name today and stand with thousands of concerned voters across the country – Congress must invest in programs that we need as we face this crisis.

By adding your name, you’ll join a community of thousands of other UCS members who believe that science can and should be used to inform decision making on issues that affect our health, safety, and environment.

Stand with us today and add your name to our petition.
