Fair Districts Seeking Polling Place Volunteers for November 5

From Fair Districts PA (http://www.fairdistrictspa.com):

We need your help on November 5.

Since November 2017, FDPA Polling Place Outreach volunteers have talked to over 60,000 voters, asking them to sign our petition supporting an independent redistricting commission. We’re planning to do it again.

Polling Place Outreach (PPO) has yielded thousands of petition signatures, email addresses and conversations with voters in the past two years, while also raising FDPA’s profile among public officials and the press..

To make this work, we need polling place captains to help organize the effort.

You’ve been involved in the Polling Place Outreach effort before, so your experience would be invaluable to us as a captain. Captains are assigned polling places in an area (from 3-5 polling places, each with 4 to 8 volunteers), help train other volunteers, answer questions and distribute materials .

Captains also have the fun job of visiting polling places to take photos, see how things are going, then collect and tally petitions at the close of the day.

If you really want to have an adventure, consider signing up to be a captain for a group that is heading on a road trip to a strategic part of the state! There is a place on the captain sign-up form to indicate your willingness to be a traveling captain. Just remember to apply for an absentee ballot if you sign up to be a traveling captain!

Captains and volunteers have told us PPO is a great way to connect with other volunteers, contribute to our reform effort, and engage in a non-partisan way to strengthen our democracy.

Position Description for Polling Place Outreach Captain provides a summary of key requirements and qualifications.

You can sign up using this webform, which is also listed in the Captain Position Description.

Thanks for your support in this!

P.S. We’re looking for Captains, but we’re also starting to recruit volunteers. If you can’t be a captain but would like to volunteer at a polling place, here’s the link. If you would prefer to be a volunteer, but you’d fill in as a captain if we were short-handed, you can fill out the volunteer form and include that information on the “Anything Else” line.
