“Eyes to See” 15 Minute Documentary from Mexico Border

From Welcoming Immigrants (https://welcomingimmigrants.org/):

Last September, I had the privilege – along with seven other evangelical women – to see firsthand what is happening at our southern border. Our delegation made its way to McAllen, Texas to listen and learn with a shared prayer that God would give us “eyes to see” what was happening, to move beyond our assumptions, our fears, and even our personal experiences, and to deeply engage all those we encountered. While we were at the border, we talked with local business people, civic leaders, and government officials to learn what was happening from those on the ground. We asked immigrants and those who are supporting them about their stories. In observing and listening, we learned so much. And out of that shared experience, we put together a short documentary entitled “Eyes to See.”

You may have noticed we shared the film in the Welcome. page, and sent an email previously about it. With so much conversation in the news about border security and the humanitarian crisis at the border, we invite you to share our experiences through the “Eyes to See” documentary. We’d love for you to take 15 minutes to watch, listen, and learn alongside us. Our prayer is that as women, God will give us eyes to see what He sees so we can respond with God’s love, mercy, and justice. (Micah 6:8)

We encourage you to watch the documentary and even to check out the film discussion guide we wrote so that groups of women could share the experience of watching and learning together. In addition, here is a more in-depth explainer about what has been happening to families at the border we put together this summer.

Above all, we want to keep our eyes open to God’s presence. We invite you to join us as we pray for new “eyes to see” what God is doing and how we can join in.
