From the Campaign for America’s Future (http://www.ourfuture.org/):
That fight against cuts to Social Security will continue—because the politicians who just passed the massive tax cuts for the rich and the corporations are now launching a campaign to make up the lost revenue through big cuts to “entitlement spending,” which is another way of saying cutting Social Security benefits (and Medicare and Medicaid).
But most Americans know that Social Security benefits need to be expanded—to make sure that all retirees, especially the poor (and women, who tend to go in and out of the workforce), have a decent minimum to live on in their older years.

Here’s some very good news: Campions in the Congress who have worked with our movement to stop Social Security cuts – have launched the Expand Social Security Caucus to fight for expanded, livable benefits that all Americans deserve after a lifetime of paying into the system.
If thousands of activists in every state and congressional district join the Caucus, it will send a message of support to the many candidates who are right now running on an Expand Social Security platform. And it will help build an active, engaged voice in Congress that can deliver on the promise to expand Social Security after the election. The Expand Social Security Caucus will give our movement an institutional home, and clear champions who can work across both houses of Congress to make this a legislative priority. In the Senate, the Expand Caucus will be chaired by Senators Bernie Sanders (VT) and Elizabeth Warren (MA). In the House, co-chairs include Representatives Debbie Dingell (MI), Raul Grijalva (AZ), Conor Lamb (PA), John Larson (CT), and Terri Sewell (AL).1
They will help us make the case that we can afford to pay out ALL earned benefits for decades, AND we can increase benefits if we “lift the cap” that now prevents the rich from paying the same percentage of their income into Social Security as the rest of us.
Polling shows that Social Security expansion is wildly popular with voters, with an average of 70% in support — Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike.2
Americans understand that it is not only the right thing to do—but providing a decent income for people in retirement is a good thing for our country’s economy.
Expanding Social Security is a question of values, not affordability. Sign here if you agree.
We’ve worked hard to protect this crucial program. Now we have an opportunity to build a real majority in Congress to make the changes that Social Security needs.
Please take the time to let the members of this important new caucus know that you are with them. We will keep you informed about actions you can take to build the movement. And together we will work for a retirement system and a healthy economy that works for all of us.
