Does Your Candidate Support Protections for Preexisting Conditions?

From Families USA (http://www.familiesusa.org):

With election season in full swing, candidates are hitting the campaign trail speaking to issues that are important to voters. We know that health care, and specifically protections for people with preexisting conditions, is a top issue for voters. Candidates for office know that too. That’s why they are promising to protect people with preexisting conditions, sometimes even when their actions and past words can’t back up that promise.

Families USA has developed a new tool to help assess whether candidates actually support preexisting conditions:

The Three-Part Test:

  1. Does your candidate oppose repeal of the Affordable Care Act?
  2. Has your candidate taken action, or would your candidate take action, to forbid or restrict short-term plans?
  3. Does your candidate oppose the Texas v. United States lawsuit to overturn the Affordable Care Act?

Download our tool for more on how to apply the test: Does Your Candidate Actually Support Protections for People with Preexisting Conditions The Three-Part Test.

To spread the word about how important meaningful protections are for preexisting conditions, we have created national and 13 key state graphics that you can share on social media. Find national and key state graphics and corresponding fact sheets here and please consider sharing these graphics on social media. (Pennsylvania)
