Court Rules Against Sisters on Pipeline

From Lancaster Against Pipelines (http://www.wearelancastercounty.org/):

On July 25 the US 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against the Adorers of the Blood of Christ in their efforts to keep a climate warming, fossil fuel pipeline off of their own land in Lancaster County. For these Sisters, whose order was founded in 1834, the fight for environmental justice is a deeply held religious conviction.

Lancaster Against Pipelines is profoundly disturbed by the federal court’s decision to protect the financial interests of the gas industry over the religious rights of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ.

It’s crystal clear from this ruling that the Natural Gas Act supersedes even our most fundamental Constitutional rights.

This is precisely why communities all over this country must continue to engage in peaceful Civil Disobedience to force a change in the current system that privileges corporate profits over the health and safety of local communities and the Earth itself.

The Adorers are now considering their options as this fight for environmental justice continues.

Please take a minute to read the Adorers’ official response to today’s ruling. It’s an inspiring, clear-eyed statement of resistance, resolve, and hope.
