Be a Congregation Captain and Get Your Congregation Involved in Faith Climate Justice Voter Campaign

From Pennsylvania Interfaith Power and Light (http://www.paipl.org):

IPL launched its 2022 Faith Climate Justice Voter Campaign last month to reach out to people of faith and conscience in this important election year.

We will make sure people are registered and ready to vote and mobilize them to vote their values of caring for our common home and loving our neighbors.

Become a Congregation Captain in this campaign and help us mobilize faith voters.

We invite you to pause right now to recall why you pray and work for climate justice.

Millions of Americans of faith care about climate change and justice, but too many of them are unlikely to vote in November. We know that we can turn many of them out to vote for climate justice if we can connect those voters to their values using proven voter outreach strategies. But we can’t do it without you.

Get your congregation involved in the Faith Climate Justice Voter Campaign and sign up to be a Congregation Captain. As a Captain, you will be a lead for your faith community with the Campaign. You will serve as a liaison between IPL and your congregation, bringing opportunities to your faith community on how it can engage in a nonpartisan way to reach out to faith voters and your community in 2022. Our Captains will receive:

  • A toolkit with guidance on how your faith community can reach out to other faith voters and your local community
  • Availability of an IPL staff member dedicated to helping you
  • Invitations to monthly trainings/briefings on Zoom
  • A community of other Congregation Captains working to empower faith voters
  • An invitation to a private Facebook group to share ideas and questions with IPL staff and other Captains around the country
  • E-newsletters (monthly, then weekly as Election Day approaches)
  • Opportunities to join with other people of faith around the country for virtual voter outreach events with speakers

Examples of ways your congregation could contribute to the Campaign include:

  • Registering voters
  • Making sure your community is ready to vote (their registration is up to date)
  • Sharing our nonpartisan faith voter reflection guide
  • Coordinating with other congregations in your community to reach voters
  • Joining IPL in reaching out to faith voters in key states via text message.

Join us in getting out the Faith Climate Justice vote in 2022 by signing up as a Congregation Captain!
