From PennEnvironment (http://www.pennenvironment.org):
The secret is out: Pennsylvania’s state parks are some of the best around. And if you want to keep them that way for the next 25 years, we need your help.
From the miles of trails along Delaware Canal to the roaring waterfalls and rapids flowing through Ohiopyle, more Pennsylvanians from all walks of life are getting out and enjoying the unique beauty of our precious spaces. In fact state park attendance rose by over 3 million in five years1.
That’s why environmental officials want to hear from Pennsylvania’s state park users for input about what makes these places so great and what needs to be improved. PennEnvironment has been asked to help garner that input, so if you enjoy our state parks, take a few minutes to fill out this quick survey today. We’ll also enter you for a chance to win our $250 raffle after completing it.
Unfortunately, not everyone in Harrisburg seems to love our state parks as much as the rest of us. Funding for parks has not only failed to keep up with the influx of visitors, but last fall the State House threatened to raid $100 million from special funds committed to conserving and expanding these treasured places.
We know that the rivers we fish, swim, and kayak in, the trails we hike, and the beautiful vistas we marvel at deserve more. So we’ve mobilized our staff and volunteers across the Commonwealth to collect over 5,000 comments online and on the ground in some of these parks.
