Voting Has Started: Commit to Report Problems with Voting

From Faith in Public Life (http://www.faithinpubliclife.org):

The election is underway, right now. In states across the country, early voting has started, mail-in ballots are being returned and people are preparing for Election Day in 13 days. Over 11 million people have already voted early or voted by mail! All the while, people of faith are on the frontlines of our democracy, serving as peacekeepers at the polls, election workers, driving friends and neighbors to vote and doing everything they can do to make sure our election is free and fair so we have a society where everyone can thrive.

Join faith leaders and do your part to ensure we have free and fair elections. Commit to calling or texting (866) OUR-VOTE at https://fpl.actionkit.com/sign/natl-democracy-hotline-pledge if you see or hear about a problem at the polls or voting booth.

We know that powerful interests benefit when people cannot freely vote. We hear about threats from white Christian nationalists who want to set up barriers to voting and threaten people at the ballot box.

But as people of faith, we know that injustice never has the last word. When we work together to ensure that voting is safe and accessible for all, no attempts to divide, deceive, intimidate or prevent us from casting a ballot and having it count shall prevail.

Take action today: commit to doing your part by contacting (866) OUR-VOTE if you witness any voter suppression or threats around voting between now and election day. Commit to educating yourself so you can oppose white Christian nationalism. Commit to educating your community to vote freely and safely.

Many have seen, firsthand, unjust barriers to voting. But we’ve also seen boards of elections, precinct workers and ordinary people staunchly committed to making sure as many people as possible can vote freely and fairly.

People of faith have risen together for our democracy before and we know that we can do it again. We will work to ensure our elections are free, fair and safe because our faith demands that of us. Thank you for being part of this community that looks out for each other.
