Calls Needed Today to Stop Arctic Drilling in Federal Tax Legislation

From the Alaska Wilderness League (http://www.alaskawild.org):

Your help is needed NOW! The harmful Senate and House tax bills are now in conference to seek agreement on a common bill that can pass in both houses. We are seeking to keep drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge out of any tax legislation because it will hurt native peoples, the environment, and many endangered animals.

Calls to the following Members of Congress are needed most right now, but we encourage you to call your Representative regardless, and certainly, to call Senator Toomey.

  • Dent (PA 15) 202-225-6411 (environmental staffer: Bryce Mongeon)
  • Meehan (PA 7) 202-225-2011 (enviro staffer: Miranda Lutz)
  • Costello (PA 6) 202-225-4315 (enviro staffer: Dante Cutrona)
  • Toomey (PA) 202-224-4254 (enviro staffer: Tyler Minnich)

Sample calling script:

Hi, my name is (Full Name) from (City and Faith Community). I’m calling to share my conviction that drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge does NOT belong in the tax bill. Faith communities care deeply about how Arctic Refuge drilling would hurt Indigenous peoples with subsistence lifestyles in Alaska. Can I count on this office to keep Arctic drilling OUT of the tax bill? (Wait for response.) Thank you for your time.
