Call Your US Representative: Pass the Eric Garner Excessive Use of Force Prevention Act

From Faith in Public Life (http://www.faithinpubliclife.org):

Black lives matter to God. As people of faith, we have the responsibility to not only speak out against systemic white supremacy, but also to dismantle it. From brutal racist police, to the administration’s incitement of violence against protesters, we see the devaluation of Black lives across our society.

Please join today in urging Congress to immediately pass H.R. 4408, the Eric Garner Excessive Use of Force Prevention Act, prohibiting police chokeholds and other lethal tactics. Additionally, urge Congress to pass the House Resolution introduced by Rep. Ayanna Pressley calling for the end of police brutality and use of excessive force.

Call your representative today (find contact information at http://www.house.gov) and say:

Hi, my name is ________ and I am your constituent and a person of faith calling to urge you to support H.R. 4408 to prohibit the use of violent force by law enforcement. I would also like you to co-sponsor the House Resolution introduced by Rep. Pressley, to condemn racial profiling, anti-Black police brutality, and the use of excessive and militarized force throughout the country. I urge Rep. Scott Perry to support the passage of this bill. Will the Representative do so?

We must not be silent. The faith community needs to speak up. Every level of the government must value Black lives and implement policies that uphold the dignity of all people. The killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, David McAtee, and so many other beloved children of God demand justice.

Please call your Congressional Representative today. Together, we must speak out against white supremacy. We am hopeful that we can ensure the equality of all people.
