Call Out the Cruelty of Child Detention

Hand in jail with girl and house of detention concept, vignette effect and selective focus.

From the Union of Concerned Scientists (http://www.ucsusa.org):

Children at the border need our immediate help.

Almost exactly a year ago we condemned the horrific policy of child detention as images and stories of children in deplorable conditions began to appear in our newspapers and on our television sets. Stories of children as young as two years old having no one to care for them while being deprived of basic necessities such sleep, food, and fresh air.

And the effects will be long-lasting; there is a large body of research that tells us that subjecting young children to this type of abuse can scar them for their lifetimes.

We need to continue to use our voices to condemn these inhumane policies in no uncertain terms and to demand our elected officials do the same. Call today and urge your members of Congress to publicly denounce the administration’s cruel policy of family separation.

Call your Representative and Senators Pat Toomey and Bob Casey to tell them that family separation and child detention must end now. Find contact information:

We need to be better than this as a country and we cannot remain silent. Call your legislators today.
