Call Senator Casey to Urge Support for Expanding the EITC and Child Tax Credit

From the Coalition on Human Needs (http://www.chn.org):

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC) help working families and individuals better provide for basic needs. These two tax credits together lift 8.9 Million people out of poverty in 2018, demonstrating the power of federal programs to alleviate poverty and helping low-income families keep up with the increasing cost of living.

Please call Senator Casey’s DC office at 202-224-6324 between now and COB on Monday, October 21 with this message:

“Any tax package that passes this year must include an expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit.”

Ask the receptionist who answers your call to share the message with Senator Casey and his lead tax staff person Livia Shmavonian.

Background: It is likely that toward the end of the year there will be a package of tax provisions that include ‘fixes’ to the Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA) that benefit businesses. The overwhelming beneficiaries of the TCJA, passed only with Republican support, are corporations and wealthy individuals while low-income families and individuals received little benefit.
