All sessions begin at 6:00 pm.

Participants should come prepared to have their thinking challenged and to challenge the views of the author and facilitators. The 13th Amendment had a dual purpose and has successfully fulfilled its duality. The Three Strikes legislation has had unintended (or intended) consequences. Black men, black families and others have paid a steep price based upon the laws of the land.

Participants will be asked to read a controversial book, Invisible Men, written by former Black Panther, Flores A. Forbes. During the last two weeks of the five-week session, they will have the opportunity to engage directly with him regarding his viewpoints and experiences. Prior to speaking with Mr. Forbes, participants will view a discussion on the 13th Amendment and its impact.
