Tell ATF Head to Hold Bad Gun Sellers Accountable

“Everyone has a gun.” That’s the quote in a recent Post-Gazette article that jumped off the page. The rate of gun sales has continued to climb throughout the pandemic, and we haven’t gotten any safer as a result. In fact, the opposite has happened. This month, we finally got someone confirmed through the Senate to lead the ATF, and we need to tell him to use all the power of his position to take action immediately at https://act.ceasefirepa.org/a/send-atf-director-steve-dettelbach-message-hold-bad-gun-sellers-accountable.

Gun violence in Pittsburgh is at a decade-high level. In Philadelphia, we just hit the 300 gun homicide level, a horrific reality impacting the entire city. The carnage our major cities are experiencing overshadows the real violence impacting people all across the Commonwealth, in Reading, Erie, Upper Darby, in communities all over. For the families who lose their loved ones in such a senseless way, the politics of the situation is meaningless. They want action so that no one, not one mother, sister, or spouse has to feel the lifelong heartbreak they were just consigned to in an instant.

Steve Dettelbach, the head of the ATF, needs to hear from you.

We need him to prioritize at minimum, an inspection for every single registered gun seller, and any store that fails to abide by every law on the books needs to be shut down indefinitely.
