From Church World Service (http://www.churchworldservice.org):

On August 9th, CWS celebrated the bicameral introduction of the Afghan Adjustment Act, bipartisan legislation that provides a roadmap to permanent status for Afghans and ensures they can apply to become lawful permanent residents. Now is an important time to urge Members of Congress to swiftly pass this legislation in September when they return from the congressional recess period, so Afghans have a permanent path forward as they build lives in safety in the United States.

We invite you to join us for the virtual Congressional advocacy days from Tuesday, September 6th to Thursday, September 8th to urge Congress to cosponsor and pass the Afghan Adjustment Act.

To join us and participate, please RSVP here by Sunday, August 28th.

EOA will be scheduling virtual legislative visits between 12pm ET – 5pm ET on Tuesday, September 6th and 9am ET – 5pm on Wednesday, September 7th and Thursday, September 8th. If you’re unable to join virtual meetings anywhere in those time blocks, please ensure you note this in the RSVP form.

How to Participate

To participate, please fill out this form. EOA will hold a virtual training on how to conduct legislative meetings, will schedule group virtual meetings with your Members of Congress, and share digital advocacy resources. Participants will receive:

  • Training on Virtual Legislative Meetings – Date TBD (the week of August 29th).
  • Schedule of Meetings with Your Senators or their staff — on September 6-8th.
  • Sample Talking Points and Asks for Your Meeting — you will receive resources to help guide your meetings and we encourage you to share your personal stories and experiences.
  • Evacuate Our Allies Coalition Support — each meeting will include an accompanier (experienced legislative advocate) to provide support.
  • Advocacy and Social Media Toolkit — the toolkit will include a call-in action, sample social media posts and graphics, and additional advocacy resources that you can share.

Thank you, and please share this opportunity with your networks!
