Act to Save the Endangered Species Act

From the Earth Day Network (https://www.earthday.org):

The Endangered Species Act (ESA), passed 40 years ago, has prevented extinction for 99% of species under its protection and has shown a 90% recovery rate in more than 100 species throughout the United States. Without the ESA we could lose many of our most iconic species to extinction.

However, the ESA is under attack yet again. The current Administration, the Senate, the House, and well-funded private groups have coordinated a strong concerted effort to overhaul the Endangered Species Act. You can read more about the proposed changes here.

Even though the ESA has broad public support (90% of voters of all political persuasions support the ESA) the Department of the Interior has pushed to issue new provisions that will render the ESA ineffective.

If the Administration is successful in implementing its proposed changes to the ESA it could become nearly impossible to add new species to the list of endangered species.

For your convenience, we’ve drafted a letter for you to send directly to President Donald Trump, Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke, and Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross expressing your opposition to the proposed changes to the ESA.

We urge you to take a few minutes to express your opposition to the degradation of the Endangered Species Act. Please click here to send your letter and let your voice to be heard.

On behalf of the endangered or threatened species around the world, we thank you for speaking out!
