Act Now to Raise the Minimum Wage

From the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center (http://www.pennbpc.org):

News reports indicate that some state representatives would like to pass the 2019-20 PA budget quickly and go on vacation for the summer, without raising the minimum wage. Meanwhile, large numbers of low-wage workers will not be able to take any vacation this summer because they won’t be able to afford the unpaid time off from their jobs.

Many PA’s Choice allies, including PA Budget & Policy, are determined to increase the pressure on lawmakers in the crucially important hours & days ahead. There are several ways that Pennsylvanians can send the message to their state senators & representatives, letting them know that they expect them to raise the wage now, not this fall or next year:

Go to the online petition at https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-your-pa-state-legislators-its-time-to-raise-the-wage-2/ where you can immediately send an email to your state senator & representative. Please join us in signing the petition and emailing your legislators – and share it with others via social media!

We’ve set up a click-to-call action page at http://wethepeoplepa.org/call-your-legislator-to-tell-them-its-time-to-raise-the-minimum-wage/ to phone your state representative without looking up the office number or even dialing. Enter your name, phone number, and email address, and the system will call you immediately and play a brief message with tips about what to say to your representative, while a page of talking points appears on your computer screen.  Following that, the system automatically connects you with your representative’s office, where your call with either be answered by a staff person or go to voicemail. After talking with staff or leaving a message, simply hang up. Invite your friends to take action, too!

Don’t let them leave without raising the wage!

Thank you for helping to keep the pressure on the General Assembly in the critically important days ahead!
