From Fair Districts PA (http://www.fairdistrictspa.com):
You may have seen gerrymandering in the news lately. The PA Supreme Court ruled that our 2011 Congressional district map was unconstitutional and needed to be redrawn before the next election. There’s been a strong effort to have reform legislation passed, with lots of twists and turns as a constitutional amendment works its way through our state house and senate.
It’s all been a confusing process, with lots of accusations from every side.
You may not be aware that a former youth pastor, Fair Districts PA Chair, Carol Kuniholm, is part of that story. Her eleven years in youth ministry at the Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli, Pennsylvania and her work with children and youth in a partner congregation in the inner-city Kensington section of Philadelphia led her into a deeper exploration of systems of injustice and what it means to love our neighbor in the political arena. In a February 2018 presentation to her own community she shared her experience and suggested ways to be a good neighbor as individuals and as a community of faith.
Create a space in your faith community to have a conversation about justice, gerrymandering and love of our neighbors. We have provided a video of Carol Kuniholm giving the presentation, along with discussion questions and an announcement to help promote your event.
