From the Pennsylvania Health Access Network (http://www.pahealthaccess.org):
YOU DID IT! After months of fighting with everything we have, together, we were able to stop the Senate from repealing the Affordable Care Act.
This has been the goal of “Obamacare” opponents since the day health care reform passed in March 2010. Despite having powerful majorities in Congress and the Senate, and the presidency, they did not have more power than WE.THE.PEOPLE.
It’s sometimes hard to see the historic significance of moments like this while we’re in them, but please know that what you did by rallying, calling, showing up, and speaking out is something you can be proud of for the rest of your life!
We can and should celebrate this victory, but we cannot rest in our advocacy because more health care attacks are on the horizon. Separate from repeal efforts, the House Republican budget includes cuts to Medicaid that are just as severe as the ones proposed in the AHCA and BCRA. We have to be vigilant in defending Medicaid in these next weeks as the federal budget debate heats up.
Today, we’re asking you to take three actions to continue the fight to #ProtectOurCare:
- Call Senator Toomey and let him know you are outraged about his votes throughout this process to cut Medicaid and repeal the ACA.
- Call Senator Casey and thank him for fighting to protect your care.
- Show up this Saturday to celebrate our victory and renew your energy in this fight with advocates taking part in a national Lives on the Line day of action. Rallies are planned in Allentown, Doylestown, Erie, Greensburg, Johnstown, Media, Mount Lebanon, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Reading, and Wilkes-Barre.
Thank you for making this victory possible! Together, we will protect our care.
