From PennEnvironment (http://www.pennenvironment.org):
One-third of North American species — including bumblebees, butterflies, and hummingbirds — are at risk of extinction.1
Right now, over 1,300 species are listed under the Endangered Species Act as either endangered or threatened.2 Another 12,000 are considered vulnerable and in need of conservation.3
Protecting wildlife clearly requires urgent action. That’s why we’re rallying grassroots support to pass the most important wildlife conservation bill in decades. Will you join us?
Send a message at https://pennenvironment.webaction.org/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=50445 urging your U.S. House representative to support the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act. The House of Representatives could vote on this legislation as soon as tomorrow.
The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act provides $1.4 billion annually to states and territories for implementing wildlife conservation plans. The money will be used for on-the-ground efforts such as habitat restoration, reintroducing native species, and tackling invasive species.
Funding is urgently needed to recover, among other species, our most important pollinators. Recent research has revealed an alarming decline in bumblebee populations. In places where bumblebees have lived in North America, you’re half as likely to see one today.4
In order to save bumblebees, butterflies, and other species, we need your help. We are expecting a vote as soon as tomorrow. By sending a message to your U.S. representative today, you’ll help build the necessary support to see the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act passed.
Call on your U.S. representative to stand up for America’s wildlife.
